know that spouses, children, and mothers and fathers deserve a heart-felt thank
you too for their own personal sacrifices here at home. Why is the Military Appreciation Monday dinner not on Veterans Day? Golden Corral does not hold the Military Appreciation Monday ‘thank you’ dinner on Veterans Day because we do not want to interfere with a veteran’s parade, memorial services, or commemorative ceremonies or other scheduled events by our partners, the Disabled American Veterans organization. I have to work on November 15, can I come another date? November 15 is the designated special night to honor all military personnel and thank them for their service. The dinner preparations leading up to and including this night are a tremendous operational challenge for all 485 Golden Corral restaurants. There are literally hundreds of co-workers in each restaurant, plus the management team, food distribution companies, printing of materials, scheduling the DAV representatives, etc that need to be coordinated for this one single night. Golden Corral restaurants usually serve over 325,000 guests on this single night. Can I have a rain check for another night? There are no rain checks for November 15. We hope you can arrange your schedule to join us. Can I have my free “thank you” meal as a take-out meal? There are no take-out meals associated with this dinner as most veterans feel that this is a great opportunity to renew old friendships, make new friends, and simply enjoy the evening as Golden Corral’s special guest. How many meals has Golden Corral served over the past 9 years of Military Appreciation Monday? Golden Corral restaurants have served over 2.5 million free ‘thank you’ meals to our heroes in the military over the past 8 years. How much has Golden Corral donated to the Disabled American Veterans over the past 9 years? Golden Corral restaurants and their guests have donated over $4.4 million dollars to the Disabled American Veterans organization in the past 9 years.

*McCormick & Schmick’s restaurantsOn Nov. 7, McCormick & Schmick’s restaurants will offer a free entree to military veterans for its 12th annual Veteran’s Appreciation Event. Menu picks include such seafood items as parmesan crusted tilapia, roasted cedar plank salmon and almond crusted rainbow trout. “Our Veterans Appreciation Event has become a tradition that our restaurants look forward to each year,” said Bill Freeman, CEO ofMcCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants, in a statement.

*BED AND BREAKFASTS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES TO HONOR U.S. MILITARYB&Bs and Inns are providing free rooms on Wednesday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day, November 11, to honor servicemen and women currently serving or who have previously served their country. The program was started in 2009 by the West Virginia B&B Association (formerly called MABB) and this year has expanded to include over 40 states and provinces and more than 300 Inns. The wedding industry is making a difference and giving brides to be the opportunity to find the wedding gown of their dreams as well as alleviating financial stress of purchasing a wedding gown. Each store will be preparing a select number of gown to give away. Most of the gowns are samples and overstocks and are worth approximately $500 to $3000. Dresses range in sizes from 4-22 and will be given away on a first-come, first serve basis as long as you qualify.

*Lowe’sLowe’s home improvement stores are offering a special 10 percent discount to military personnel and retirees over the Veterans Day holiday. A statement from the Mooresville, N.C., firm says the company is offering the discount on in-store and special order purchases up to a maximum of $5,000. The company says only people from the active duty ranks, reservists, honorably discharged and retired military men and women with valid identification or proof of service are eligible. The company says it has 1,675 stores in the United States and Canada and employs more than 12,000 military veterans.
*Home DepotThe Home Depot announced that the Company is offering all active duty personnel, reservists, retired military, veterans and their families a 10 percent discount off their purchases in honor of Veteran’s Day. The offer is valid on purchases of up to $2,000 for a maximum of $200. “Veteran’s Day honors the heroic individuals who have served our nation and have made tremendous sacrifices to protect our freedoms,” said Frank Blake, chairman and CEO. “We are proud to show our appreciation with the Veteran’s Day discount as it is a simple, yet meaningful, gesture to say thank you to these men and women who have protected and continue to protect our nation.” To qualify, individuals must present proof of military service when checking out and discounts will be taken at the register. [The two home improvement giants have expanded their military discount programs as well to give all active, reserve, and retired military members and their immediate family members a 10% discount everyday. Like Lowe’s, Home Depot’s discount was originally focused on veterans holidays but has since expanded its discounts to veterans everyday. HAVE TO ASK at each point of purchase.]

*Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center this Veterans DayThursday, November 11. Starting at 10am, admission is FREE for veterans all day. Visitors will also have access to the Center’s world debut Art of the American Soldier exhibition, which unveils more than 250 works of art by soldiers on the front lines. Visitors will be able to talk to soldiers stationed overseas via videoconference, listen to vets share their stories, participate in a moving wreath-laying ceremony, and enjoy performances by a military bands and a drill team, and more. We’ll have fun events for children as well, including military muster drills, flag folding demonstrations, activity stations and interactive shows.
*On the Veteran’s Dayfront is a very special concert in Las Vegas on November 12 presented by GIJams.com. The web site brings the musical talent of hundreds of Veterans and active duty soldiers, Marines, sailors, airmen and National Guard members to the forefront via the cleverly titled project from well-know songwriters Denny Randell and Biddy Schippers. *This Veteran’s Day rockin’ Los Angeles based
country group Coldwater Canyon Band will pay tribute to the men and women
who courageously serve and protect our country with a performance on the Veterans Day Virtual Telethon on November 6 at 2 p.m. Eastern time, helping to
raise money for various veterans groups around the country. Coldwater Canyon
Band will perform their touching military tribute “Piece Of Mind” and their hit
single “Nobody Knows” from their debut album Just
Getting Started during their 30-minute set. Kountreeboyz Entertainment CEO
Thomas Goodin will also appear and the telethon will also feature a special
message from First Lady Michelle Obama. Coldwater Canyon Band recently released
the video for “Piece Of Mind,” which has already spawned over 560,000 views on
the band’s MySpace and features frontman Howie Vaughn proudly
sporting his own military jacket he wore while spending three years in the
military, spending time in Operation Desert Storm as well as being stationed at
Fort Dix in New Jersey, Fort Benning in Georgia and Fort Sam Houston in Texas.

believes what the servicemen, their families and even the war protesters need
